Construction of a new police headquarters and a hall of justice will begin early next year. That was the assurance given by National Security minister Hermangild Francis on Tuesday, as he made his way to the day’s Senate sitting. Last week parents and teachers of the Ava Maria Infant School called for the relocation of the Castries Magistrates Court, citing concerns over bomb scares that forced the school to be evacuated. Ten traumatized schoolchildren were reportedly taken to Victoria hospital for treatment.

Another agonizing week for the family of a missing Vieux Fort man. Michael ‘Coco’ Blaze, 21, has been MIA since November 24, following his release from police custody. At a press briefing on Monday, police superintendent George Nicholas confirmed a missing person report had been filed. He said Blaze was arrested in Vieux Fort on November 22 and held for two days at the Choiseul police station in relation to a robbery. Nicholas said Blaze was released on the 24 November 2019, and has not been seen since.

These providers employ hundreds of St Lucians and deliver a welcome boost to the domestic economy but as the BPO market grows both regionally and internationally so too does the competition and Saint Lucia must evolve to secure its foothold in the sector, exploring new opportunities in higher value niches.

They must be hounded out of office.” It is time for Dr. Kenny Anthony to do the right thing, in the best interests of party and country. Time to put patriotism before pride and gracefully slide out to allow the St. Lucia Labour Party a real chance at victory in the next general elections. And while I have no way of knowing when the prime minister might ring the election gong, Dr. Anthony is well placed to know the prime minister is constitutionally free to call a snap election whenever convenient. After all, Dr. Anthony did just that in 2016, disastrously.
