Police have made a breakthrough in the shooting death of a 74-year-old Marchand resident. Two 16-year-olds have been arrested and formally charged with murder. Shaquille Lionel and Walter Hofer are each facing possible life sentences, for allegedly killing Joachim Joseph during a December 27th shooting.

Former Prime Minister Stephenson King has given his stamp of approval for the knighthood awarded to prominent, local businessman Michael Chastanet.  Michael Chastanet is the father of Prime Minister Allen Chastanet.  King shrugged off nepotism claims, amid lively debate on whether the Prime Minister’s father is deserving of a knighthood.

The St. Lucia Air and Seaport Authority (SLASPA) will implement a new registration policy for imported vehicles, come Monday, January 7th. Every month, SLASPA receives about 4 cargo vessels with 60 – 100 used vehicles. The authority is aiming for more efficient operations on the wharf.

Two sets of fishermen from Vieux Fort had to be rescued at sea during the festive season. The two vessels on separate fishing expeditions experienced difficulties in very treacherous conditions at sea. Both teams of fishermen were rescued by separate neighboring crews.
